Finding and applying for work in Hong Kong has become more convenient nowadays since employers and agencies can easily connect to applicants online through mobile apps or social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well as through other channels such as WhatsApp, WeChat, and many more.
Here are the top four apps recommended by our resource vlogger, Jean, for OFWs who wish to find a job as a domestic helper here in Hong Kong.
1. Helper Library

This is an app you can download on your phone for free. You can use this app if you’re looking to find work as a domestic helper, part-time cleaner, driver, maternity specialist, or babysitter. It is a global platform that connects you to employers of different nationalities from different countries. But if you wish to continue working as a domestic helper in Hong Kong, you can set the search option within Hong Kong only so that the interview and application process will be more convenient and easy for you to do.
According to its page on Google Play, there are six main household categories you can apply for work. To start, you need to download the app and fill out your personal and work details. The app will automatically match you to potential employers for the job you wish to apply for. Once you have connected to a recruiter or a potential employer, you can begin the application and interview process right away. Once you have been considered for the job, regular hiring procedures will follow such as the signing of a contract and processing your work documents. Be sure that you are familiar with all these so that you won’t overlook any legal step in the process.
2. Mama Helpers

The developers of the app take pride in the simple and professional process of job-matching offered by the Mama Helpers App. Just like Helper Library, you only need to register in the app for free and the platform will automatically connect you to potential employers who need the services of a domestic helper.
The app is affiliated with at least 50 employment agencies (EA) and training schools worldwide. The app has now around 150,000 registered foreign domestic helpers enjoying its service.
Aside from its automatic job-matching features, the app also offers UK-certified caregiver training programs for foreign domestic helpers. MamaHelpers Academy was established to help domestic helpers upskill themselves and enhance their knowledge in caregiving and nursery. This is a good app to use if you wish to get hired by Western employers and potentially work in other countries as a domestic helper.
3. HelperChoice by Yoopies

If you have a Facebook account, you can head over to this page to check out daily job postings for domestic helpers in Hong Kong or Singapore.
HelperChoice Ethical Services is a licensed employment agency in Hong Kong so you can be assured that they know and follow labor laws in the country they operate.
To use their services, you only need to register via their website (https://www.helperchoice.com/), and the platform will automatically match your credentials to a prospective employer from the country you wish to work in. And finally, considering labor laws, you are assured that all the information you share on their website will be kept private and confidential.
4. GeoExpat – Hong Kong Domestic Helper Jobs

And last on the list is another Facebook group you can join if you’re looking for an employer here in Hong Kong. Employers that post helper ads via the GeoExpat website will have their postings shared in the group daily. That’s it! Those are the top four apps and websites recommended by Jean to those who wish to work as a domestic helper like her here in Hong Kong.
As final tips, since everything is now done online, it’s best that you always keep an updated resume if you are actively looking for work using these apps or websites. Also, be very careful when dealing with people you meet online or through the said apps. Always consider your safety and when in doubt, do not engage in a potential employer if they’re offering you something else that was not advertised. Never engage with recruiters or agencies that would require you to pay any fee for their services through these apps. Instead, flag and report them accordingly as these can be scammers who are taking advantage of those looking for work in Hong Kong.
