How the Case Came to Light

The girl’s mother contacted the police at 9:28am on Friday. In her report, she said the helper had treated her daughter inappropriately.

Officers then went to the family’s flat at The Belcher’s, a private residential estate in Kennedy Town. Their initial findings suggested that the helper had spat into the child’s food. She was arrested soon after.

Stories like this can be hard to read for our community. Most Filipino helpers in Hong Kong give years of loyal and loving care to the families they serve, and many children grow up with their ate as a second parent. One case does not define the thousands of kababayans who show up for their wards every day.
